It’s Shahid versus Saif in the charts. And if Shahid is jiving to Vishal Bhardwaj’s Dhan te nan in Kaminey, Saif grooves to Twist in Love Aaj Kal as though there’s no tomorrow.

As far as listeners’ choice goes, Vishal’s track has a marked market edge, and Pritam has no qualms in admitting it.

“I’m the biggest Vishal Bhardwaj fan, no two ways about it. His Dhan Te Nan is awesome. I can’t stop listening to it. I wish I had composed it,” says the exuberant composer.

Says Pritam, “Never before have two dance numbers been so closely competitive in the charts. The fact that, both Vishal’s Dhan Te Nan and my Twist have an old-fashioned sub-layer just goes to prove, retro is back.”

Both tracks have a ravishing retro feel to it. While Twist has borrowed its main riff from Hemans Mukherjee’s Nagin, the main hook line in Vishal’s Dhan Te Nan sounds suspiciously similar to the opening musical interlude of Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s Hai hai yeh majboori from Manoj Kumar’s Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.

While Pritam’s Twist openly acknowledges its debt to its source material, Vishal pooh poohs the suggestion, that his Dhan Te Nan bears any resemblance to the older song.

Raaj the Showman to release in August

There are significant changes in Kannada film industry now days. The shooting of the recently come back movie, 'Raj the Showman', was taken in South Africa and Ladak portion. The most memorable point is that some of the scenes of songs were taken very near to the house of a significant person Nelson Mandela. In 1993 Mandela was awarded Nobel Prize for his efforts in putting an end to apartheid. In 1994, he was elected as a President in the country's first universal suffrage elections. But the time he came down from the position in 1999, he was universally respected personality of postcolonial Africa. He fought for peace in this World and even Dr. Raj Kumar of Kannada film industry was known for his peace and high standards. Another important coincidence of this movie is that, the film team shot a few scenes on 30th of June in South Africa in the place where Gandhi was arrested first in his life, almost 95 years ago for campaign on Indian Rights in 1914. It’s a good incident that, Dr. Raj Kumar's son Puneeth, the hero of the movie appeared in the shooting, along with the heroine Nisha Kothari where, both Nelson Mandela and Gandhi are connected in one way or the other. The shooting was held for six days in Johannesburg and Cape Town of South Africa, in the chilly weather. Two of the songs Hai Paaru... Hai Hele Paru shooting was held in the chilling weather and another song Poli Ivanu was held in Ladak, both the songs featuring Puneeth and Nisha Kothari. Raaj the Showman to release in August month.

Nayantara may star in Prabhudeva's next movie

The film industry is rife with rumours that Prabhudeva, who has directed the Hindi remake of ‘Pokkiri’, ‘Wanted’, is all set with the story for his second directorial venture. And the heroine for this will be no other than his sweetheart Nayantara herself!

PuthiyaMugham malayalam movie review

PuthiyaMugham is the latest malayalam movie which is released yesterday. The movie features Prithviraj, Bala, Meera Nandhan and priyamani in the main cast. The movie is directed by Deepan who debuted in malayalam film industry through this film. The first thing i want to say about this movie is that it has no story in it. The movie starts with the introduction of Prithviraj as a musician. The plot of the movie is based on the engineering study of Prithviraj and incidents caused in his life in the college. Prithviraj is doing the role of Krishnakumar , basically a bhramin. Meera Nandhan and Priyamani are the heroines of prithviraj in the movie.Bala who is the rich guy in college likes to marry Priyamani who is also his family friend. priyamani is a fresher and in Krishna Kumar’s class. Like many other girls, she too gets attracted to him and gives him special care. Bala feels insulted and tries to regain her. The story takes a backseat here the rest are all kicks, punches and slaps. It is at this portion Puthiya Mugham becomes unique. The director takes effort to give each fight an individuality which bestows beauty. Fans call him the upcoming Megastar. Fighting machine to be the Numero Uno angry youth in Malayalam Industry. Bala has good role. This will be the second role for Bala to gain him some attention in Malayalam. Earlier with his character in Big B he pocketed major roles in more than twenty films, now Puthiya Mugam will provide him roles till his next hit. Meera Nandan who is also making her presence felt in Tamil is eye candy as the lover of hero. She has the look, Color and flavor of a natural malayali girl. Sudheesh and Jagadheesh are funny at times and have managed not to overact. Lots of young artists acted in this film and have done their part well. Script by Sindhuraj has got flow. The hard work in pre production stage is visible. The characters are natural. But people cannot identify intensity of their motive. Each action and dialogue is backed by a reason. The film does not have big dialogues or preachy speeches.

Watching Puthiya Mugham is like viewing a Tamil film with the sensibility of Malayalam. Each scene is taken richly. Scores of people are managed and were filled in frame. Camera by Bharani K. Dharan sets the tensity. Action director Analarassu needs special mention. Editing by Samjith MHD is good. Graphics, Background are all in tune with cinema. Couple of songs seems to be hit. Technically this film has surpassed most Malayalam films. Puthiya Mugham can’t boast much, but will punch your face, roll you in floor and slug you to wall. Deepan is proving film is more visual orientated than tailored to story. It is high time a through out action film has sold tickets in counter. As they say in poster Puthiya Mugham is for the youth and this will be a new beginning. It's not a must watchable movie and surely will become an average hit.

Having been designated a style icon, Kareena Kapoor now intends to go on a long shopping binge in various fashion capitals and also cut her hair.

"I have to...I've no choice. I'm looked at as a fashion statement. Very tiring, but flattering. Dress designer Aki Narula has set impossible standards of fashion for me through my films. Now I've no choice but to live up to those standards. I've raised the bar for fashion," Kareena told IANS.

"After 'Kambakkht Ishq' (pictured left), in 'Qurbaan' Aki has again made me look so special," added the actress who gives the credit for her 'Kambakkht..." look to Aki.

"He went shopping for my clothes and accessories. This may be a film, but I've never worked harder. In terms of styling and body language even dance and drama, I really worked hard. I wanted it to be a 'phataka' kind of role. I wanted the audience to come out breathless," said Kareena, who may soon be off on a shopping expedition to fashion hubs such as Milan, Paris, London and New York.
